I call this piece my Whale Tail Stool. I based it on a technique originated by Kintaro Yazawa, a Japanese furniture maker whose work was featured in Fine Woodworking magazine #191. After seeing how it was done I was challenged to try my own spin on his technique and I have entered it in the 25th Annual Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts here in Joseph on June 1-3, 2007
