Koa Stool
Hawai'ian Koa
I have made many dovetailed stools but this is my favorite. It's constructed to highlight the grain of the wood as it flows through the piece. On the top, you can see the spalting (the black lines in the sapwood) flecking across the width. By looking at the end grain on the dovetails, you can see the depth of the spalting and the little rings it forms. Because of the slight concave surface, it is very comfortable to sit in.
